Agricultural credit in Bangladesh

Book

In this book the author provides an evaluative account of the agricultural credit system of Bangladesh covering a period of little more than a century. Three main streams of credit analysed are: taccavi loan provided by the department of revenue, loans by public sector financial institutions and the cooperative credit. The broad canvas and the time-frame accord credibility to the conclusions drawn. The latter part of the book is an inside story of how the system works, the strengths and weaknesses of disbursement and recovery. An attempt is made to take a holistic view of the agricultural credit system, an attempt not yet made by researchers.
