Meeting the Undernutrition Challenge

# Welcome to the temporary web page of the new Meeting the Undernutrition Challenge (MUCH) Project #

MUCH was officially launched during a signing ceremony with the Government of Bangladesh on the 14th of January 2015 and will be jointly implemented by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO-UN) and the Food Planning and Monitoring Unit (FPMU) of the Ministry of Food, with initial funding provided by USAID and prospected support by the EU.

MUCH main objective is to build a strengthened enabling environment for eradicating food insecurity and malnutrition; it builds on the success and experience of the National Food Policy Capacity Strengthening Programme (NFPCSP), which was jointly implemented by FAO and FPMU over two phases from 2005 to 2014, and supported by the generous contributions of USAID and EU.

Currently, MUCH is in its inception phase which is scheduled to terminate in late November 2015 with the launch of a 5 year Global Work Plan. Never the less, since the start date, in line with the objectives stated in the project document, MUCH has been active in supporting the Government of Bangladesh (GOB) in providing policy advice and strengthening its technical capacities on Food Security and Nutrition (FSN). Major outputs include: i) the release by the GoB of the National Food Policy Plan of Action and Country Investment Plan Monitoring Report 2015 in July 2015; ii) an undergoing stock tacking exercise on FSN policies with the involvement of all concerned stakeholders, with the view of better informing the drafting of the forthcoming new national FSN policy. http://fpmu.gov.bd/agridrupal/sites/default/files/file/MR-2015/Monitoring%20Report%202015.pdfshapeimage_2_link_0
